Well here we are, the final weekend of shopping and preparing for Christmas. A final weekend of buying gifts, sending out cards, wrapping presents, shopping for last second deals, getting in a few more who-has, what-nots and holiday doo-dads before the holiday itself (although many last through the end of the year and beyond) and of course deciding what will be on the menu for your holiday feast (should we have the chicken or should we have the roast beast?) or making those reservations for those who go out (which you probably should have done already LOL!) Soon it will all come together for all who celebrate christmas on christmas eve and on the day itself. But, there's another holiday only a week away. Two major holidays, two tuesdays in a row but... The fact of the matter is that many celebrate both more the night before. The Christmas feast is often on christmas eve and New Years Day is pretty much looked upon as a day of rest and or recovery (depending on how hard you partied in the New Year) after the parties on New Years Eve. Yes sports fans, it seems we are now more into anticipating the arrival than we are the actual days themselves. Now, dont get me wrong, everyone loves to have something to open on christmas and it's a great day to get together with family and loved ones but even those who do the religious aspect of it often go to church at midnight on christmas eve instead of christmas day. It's like New Years Eve in a way for them as they welcome in the day with a group of others in a form of celebration. A few less noise makers, horns and party hats and maybe a few less midnight smooches, but still a celebration of the event itself. And you know, both in a way celebrate a moment of renewel for many as well. As christmas comes and as we ring in the new year, many peoples thoughts turn to the future and what's to come as they reflect on the past as well. Two big parties, only one week apart! You know, if you say happy holidays, you may actually just be wishing someone a merry christmas and happy new year at the same time. Holidays is plural and we do have two major holidays within a week of each other. (work with me on this one). SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
As you prepare for your who-like feast on christmas eve and for your family celebrations on the day of you may also be preparing for the following monday night as well. Two huge mondays that fall right in a row. Two major events, two major happenings, two major parties, two french hens (wait a minute, how'd those hens get in here. My bad) Two holidays of celebrations and togetherness. Seems like we just had turkey day too. You know though, having these both fall on a monday night might change some peoples perception of mondays in general (at least for a couple weeks) So as we all head into this final weekend of preperation for the first of the two holidays, may I take this moment to wish you all a merry christmas and happy new year.
